My impressions from building the Team Corally SBX-410
To be honest, this is a great kit. The manual of the SBX-410 is very good. If you follow all their instructions and get yourself the recommended tools, building the kit is very straight-forward. I had very few issues. Nevertheless, a few small problems did arise and I would like to briefly mention them:
1) It can be confusing, where to put which lower suspension holder. To make it clear: When going from the very front of the car to the very back, the order of holders is "FF" followed by "FR" followed by "RF" followed by "RR". This is shown correctly in most parts of the manual, with the exception of page 23.
2) There is a container with additional parts that is not mentioned in the manual. These seem to be parts that likely were found to be missing, when the kit parts were packaged in the factory. Thus, they added these missing items in a separately. Make sure to familiarize yourself with the items in this container, so that you know of them and use them, once you reach the according step of the build and initially believe that some part might be missing or lost.
3) The screws for the hexes should not be used. They cannot be tightened with the normal metric Hex drivers. Instead use the screws provided in the additional parts container.
4) You should get yourself some white grease and some black grease. These are sold in most RC stores. The SBX-410 manual mentions where to use white grease. In the gear box it is advised to use plenty of grease to lubricate things well. In addition, one should also grease the outdrive joints, using black grease. This is not mentioned in the manual but highly recommended.
5) You can mount the rear shocks either in front or behind of the shock tower. I would recommend to mount them in front.
6) I used 4 of the provided o-rings in the additional parts container to remove unnecessary play at the ends of the center drive shafts, by pushing these o-rings into the outdrive adapters. This is not mentioned in the manual.
7) The 2S Shorty LiPos that I bought, some Gens Ace 5500 mAh 120C LiPos, did not fit into the battery compartment. Somehow they were 1-2 mm too long. I don't know if this means that the batteries are unusually long or that the battery compartment of the car is too small. I had to change the battery mount, to make them fit. I simply replaced the whole batter mount by two M3x35mm flat head screws. I put them through the chassis holes that normally hold the battery mount and fixed them in place by shrink-wrap that I put over the lower part of the screw threads and by also gluing them in place with CA glue. Now I can still use the red hex and thumb nuts as well as the carbon fiber brace to hold the battery in place. With this modification, batteries may now be a bit longer and still fit into the car.
8) To somewhat protect the shock towers from braking easily, one can coat their edges with CA glue. For detailed instructions, take a look at the manual of the Xray XB4 or here at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhQAjJDNbwI
